June Planning Items
Fall Recruiting Planning
Now is the time to plan for Back to School (or “fall”) recruiting, and finalize your calendar of activities, promote your plan to current and prospective families, identify (and train) leaders, and connect with your school and community. That foundation will lead to successful Sign Up Events when school starts. A Council Recruiting Kickoff will be held in July and District recruiting events will follow. Contact your Service Area District to discuss the plan and methodology to make your efforts successful.
Scouts BSA Summer Camp | June-July
Scouts BSA Summer Camp is the highlight of the Troop’s program year. It takes a lot of planning to have a good Summer Camp season, so the first part of your planning for next year’s camp should happen now. To start planning for your 2026 camp planning process remember to:
- Research camps based on troop interest. Always consider Camp Edgewood.
- Reserve a spot at camp, the earlier the better.
- Incorporate new Scouts who join in the spring into your summer camp plans.
- Hold a Parent Night to encourage camp attendance and help parents understand how to help their youth prepare for camp.
