Avenue of Flags - Veteran's Day

The Calcasieu Area Council has the honor of assisting with the Avenue of Flags program at the Orange Grove Cemetery in Lake Charles. We help put and take down the world's largest collection of American Casket Flags in America for both Memorial Day and Veteran's Day each year.

We gather at the cemetery at 6 a.m. to place the flags and return later that afternoon to return the flags to storage.

More hands make this task easier physically, but nothing can prepare you for the sight of so many flags, each representing a veteran, flying in the wind. These flags were donated by families of past veterans of many wars of past and present.

Please make plans to join us for Memorial Day and Veterans Day each year. Workdays are typically announced in the weeks before these events.
